FAQs

What is your oven ultra-deep clean and detailing service?

My meticulous ultra-deep clean and detailing results in your oven becoming ultra hygienic and looking as new as possible, giving you that ‘as new’ finish my valuable customers appreciate.

My service provides a ultra-deep clean detailing service, not a restoration service. Long-term neglect or previous cleaning with the incorrect tools or solutions, may result in damage, stains, scratches and chips that I cannot, with the best will in the world, make look new.

I am never in and out in an hour, rushing to the next customer; I normally visit just one or two customers per day.

I clean the areas you’ll never see! and yes…I’ll even use a toothbrush!

How can I pay?

Bank transfer is my preferred method, or good old cash, please.

Will you arrive on time?

Yes, for morning appointments, I will always arrive on time, give or take 10 minutes for unforeseen delays. However, afternoon appointments depend on my morning call, but I’ll always let you know when I’m on my way so you have prior notice. I would normally arrange an afternoon appointment for 1 pm.

What areas do you cover?

I generally work within a 15 mile catchment area around Aylesbury. Tap or click to see my ‘service Area’ map below.

How long will it take?

I am not the fastest worker but pride myself on being meticulous. If you need to be somewhere by a particular time and are uncomfortable with leaving me alone in your home, we should arrange for a more convenient time.  As a general rule, please allow around 1.5 – 2 hrs for a single oven clean, 2-3 hrs for say, an oven, grill and hob. For a large range, please allow half a day, around 4 hrs

I have a dog is that OK?

Absolutely! I was a dog walker for a few years.

Do you work weekends?

I try to avoid them to be honest, but under special circumstances I am happy to accommodate you.

You have not cleaned the top of my oven. Why?

Please tap or click to see the section titled ‘Ceiling Elements’ below.

Can you replace my bulb?

Please tap or click to see the ‘Bulbs’ section below.

My oven is really bad; will it cost more?

Probably. I may need to use specialist products, which cost a little more, between £10 – £70 extra to cover the products and extra time required. In extreme cases, it can double the number of hours I have to work.  You can always WhatsApp me with photos of your oven outside & inside, and I can give you an accurate price!

Will you clean all my baking trays too?

I’m afraid I will only clean the accessories that came with the oven; third-party bakeware often has thin non-stick coatings that scratch off during my cleaning process.

Do you have a call-out fee or minimum charge?

No and yes! I do not have a call-out fee, but my minimum charge is £50.00 to cover fuel, propane gas, insurance and travel time.

Do you work in all weathers?

Unfortunately, no. During high winds 20mph + it is unsafe to use the propane gas heater due to the flames being blown towards the air intake and possibly igniting the main gas tank! Also, the diptank could be blown oven because of being top heavy. I will do my best to let you know ASAP with an alternative cleaning date.

Do you guarantee to clean my oven?

Alas, no. Before starting work, I will always assess the condition of your oven.

On the very rare occasion, I may refuse to clean your oven; this would be based on certain circumstances. For example, if there is no power or gas supply, I cannot get the oven hot to clean it thoroughly.

The oven MUST be in good working order without damage or missing parts. These would include top heating elements that are bent down, thermostats that are not mounted and are loose, missing glass from doors, and gas hob ignition sparks not working. Noises caused by the fan catching or rattling due to bearing wear and tear.

By far the worst example was a Neff Slide n Hide oven which the owner has tried to clean themselves using a home cleaning kit. The door was not removed properly, resulting in the hinge mechanism being damaged, and the inside door glass was shattered as the sprung door brackets caught the edge of the inner glass during removal; finally, the inside of the oven literally looked like someone had thrown a bucket of white paint inside!

I will always explain my reason and offer the best advice I can.

Bulbs

Before I replace a bulb, I will always explain that in most cases the bulb has blown due to age etc, however, there is approximately a 5% chance that the hidden cause of the blown bulb is due to an electrical fault within the oven. If so, then the new bulb will immediately blow again and, most likely, trip your mains circuit breaker.

Unfortunately, if this happens, I’ll still need to charge you, as I cannot resell the blown bulb. So the choice is yours.

Ceiling Elements

Miele Drop-down Element

98% of the time, I will not clean the ceiling of an oven due to the fixed heating element; these are easily damaged if hit with a scraping blade.

Only 2% of ovens and microwaves I clean have an element drop-down system, allowing the element to pivot down, giving access to clean the ceiling.

If an oven is badly dirty, it will smoke. I have seen the ceiling and elements looking like solid, thick black crude oil creating stalactites! In this scenario, the only solution would be to have an engineer replace the element and have the ceiling cleaned beforehand.

The only manufactures who I have seen using drop-down heating elements are Miele and Smeg but this is only on selected models.
